We all need food, water, and nature. We want to get to know the people working closest to these resources as we all adapt to change.

People Trying is a video interview series and newsletter about those of us who work close to land, water, and nature as we’re all adapting to change.

We believe people working closest to our natural resources have essential insights into what works, what can scale, and what particular landscapes and communities need.

We focus on building  resiliency in all its forms — new and traditional efforts to absorb or retain carbon, conserve water, adapt to changing weather patterns and more severe disasters, and support communities facing new challenges.

We celebrate the willingness to try, and we resist making the perfect the enemy of the good. We recognize that new solutions come with tradeoffs and mixed results.

We respect the awe, sacredness, and sense of purpose that comes from working close to land, water, and nature.

We value local expertise and generational wisdom, and we recognize this kind of knowledge is also a threatened resource. Stories of building durable relationships and financially reliable models interest us as much as new technologies and management innovations.
